Project Management Services for the GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL TRAIN SHED REHABILITATION
This iconic, century old train shed requires extensive rehabilitation of the structure supporting the streets and sidewalks that cross over the tracks, the structure that supports the tracks and areas of the structure that support utilities and other facilities located within the train shed. This project is a continuation of work that has previously been accomplished in an attempt to slow and reverse the deterioration of the train shed. This decline of conditions was caused primarily as a result of rain water entering through gaps in the original waterproofing, but also leaks from other utilities and private buildings.
JED Engineering has been retained as a sub consultant to provide construction management support to MNR during this huge project. JED will be providing utility coordination services during all phases of the rehabilitation. Work to be done includes: Repair, rehabilitation and replacement of key structural components in the upper and lower levels of the Grand Central Terminal, – Coordination of track outages, construction site activities, road closure permits, site access, staging and phasing. – Evaluating and coordinating MPT on Park Avenue and cross streets to ensure traffic can still flow during periods with limited access due to construction activities.
