NYCEDC – Atlantic Avenue Extension and 94th/95th Avenues Streetscape Improvements and Gateway Park Construction
JED Engineering was retained as a sub- consultant to provide Construction Inspection Services for this Capital Project. The objective of the project is to create a new image for Downtown Jamaica’s western entrance from Atlantic Avenue and the Van Wyck Expressway and provide a new, approximately .86 acre, Neighborhood Park in an area that is underserved. The construction of the Atlantic Avenue extension will consist of a new roadway and the conversion of 94th and 95th Avenues from two two-way streets to a one way pair that will greatly improve access from the Van Wyck Expressway to the transit hub at the LIRR Jamaica station.
The major items of work planned under this project includes the installation of soldier piles and retaining walls, playgrounds, water sprinklers, benches and trees will all be installed. New 36” inch storm sewer RCP and Manholes, catch basins, 8inch, 12inch DIP distribution water main, and restoration of sidewalks, curbs, roadway concrete base and asphalt, traffic signals and streetlights.
