Resident Engineering Inspection Services for New Combined Sewers and Water Mains in Grand Concourse

JED Engineering was retained to provide Construction Inspection services for this vital infrastructure project. The project was located in the Grand Concourse between East 166th St. and East 172nd Street.This area of the Bronx is heavily congested with pedestrian and vehicular traffic, hence the work included the widening of the central medians between the Grand Concourse main road and service roads to improve the safety of all roadway users.

Also incorporated, was the installation of 12”, 15”, 18” and 24” diameter combined storm sewers with manhole chambers and catch basins. New water mains of 8”, 12”, 20”, 36” and 48” diameter with appurtenant hydrants and valves were installed to upgrade the water quality and pressure in the area. Also included in the project was the construction of new steel faced, concrete curbs, concrete sidewalks, the reconstruction of the service roadway with 8.5” concrete base and a 3” layer of asphaltic concrete wearing course, resurfacing of the main roadway, new street lighting and tree planting.
