Resident Engineering Inspection Services for Guniting of Existing Sewer in Seymour Avenue and Trench Restoration on Lacombe Avenue and Waterbury Avenue, Borough of the Bronx
JED Engineering, as a leading JV partner, was retained to provide Resident Engineering Inspection services for this vital infrastructure project in the Bronx. The work included the rehabilitation of existing trunk sewer mains by guniting. Guniting, (a trenchless way of rehabilitating sewers), uses a mixture of sand and cement in a 1:3 ratio, to achieve both a high compressive strength and impermeability. The project also incorporated the restoration of collapsed trenches in Seymour Ave. between Mace and Waring Ave., Lacombe Ave. between Castle Hill, as a leading JV partner, Ave. and Howe Ave. and Waterbury Ave. between Seabury and Zeriga Ave.
The guniting/reconstruction work was performed on approximately 2,000 linear feet of 11 foot by 8 foot sewer and roughly 800 linear feet of the 12 foot by 8 foot sewer. Some of the trench restoration locations included both composite asphalt/concrete pavement and flexible Macadam pavement. The total trench restoration included Seymour Ave., Lacombe Ave. and Waterbury Ave. and was approximately 1,060 linear feet by 25 foot width and 890 linear feet by 20 foot width.
